Create Your Exhibition
Welcome to the create your own exhibitions page! In this area, you are the curator and you can select artwork for your own exhibitions. At an art museum, a curator is the person that decides what artworks the public will see and how they will be displayed in an exhibition. You also have the opportunity to write your own text panels! A museum text panel is similar to a sign that provides information on the artwork, the artist or the exhibition. They are displayed on the walls in the exhibit.
When a curator organizes an exhibition, there are many things to consider. These areas could include: the design of the exhibition, the artwork or artifacts that will be included, and the kinds of text panels that will be written to communicate the exhibition's content.
Curators at museums work with many different staff members in order to make an exhibition happen. When you create your online exhibition, think about what kind of artworks you want to include. Why did you choose them? Is your exhibition focused on a theme? Did you arrange them by subject, medium or time period? Then, once you are finished, submit your exhibition for review to get posted on the website!
